II.2.4) Description of the procurement:
The requirement is for a Watertight Door on the Needles lighthouse.
It would be a design, build and fit contract ideally.
The width of the existing door – Circular tower - cord = 845mm / radius 3195mm +/- 50mm.
It is preferred that the doors open outwards with the frame/structure bracing the doors the current ones get blown inwards by the waves occasionally.
It is envisaged that the existing doors will be left open and sit back into their recesses with a new door being mounted in front of them. The reasoning behind this is for listed building purposes.
The new door is to be S/S (316 if possible).
The new door needs to be lockable with a padlock but have the ability to be locked, unlocked and opened from either side (for Boat or Helicopter access).
Watertight multipoint.
Required door fit date: Late summer 2023 (subject to change).
